StormWise GWIS 2.1 Update – November 25, 2025

This update improves the performance and compatibility of the StormWise Tools toolbox for ArcGIS Pro version 3.5 or later, including enhancements to the “Create GWIS2.1 FGDB” tool and the addition of a new tool, “Restore Relationship Classes GWIS2.1”.

Background
Beginning with ArcGIS Pro 3.5, Esri removed the ability to assign a spatial reference to feature classes within a feature dataset using the Define Projection tool. Because the “Create GWIS2.1 FGDB” workflow previously depended on this functionality to assign coordinate systems within the GWIS 2.1 file geodatabase, the tool could behave unpredictably in newer ArcGIS Pro environments, particularly when establishing the correct spatial reference for newly created feature classes.

What’s New in GWIS 2.1 (November 25, 2025)

Implemented an updated method to assign spatial references within the “Create GWIS2.1 FGDB” tool, ensuring consistent and correct coordinate systems in ArcGIS Pro 3.5 and later.

Enhanced the workflow to automatically create any missing relationship classes after features are reprojected, ensuring the geodatabase schema is complete and aligned with the GWIS 2.1 standard.

Added a new tool: “Restore Relationship Classes GWIS2.1”. This tool automatically restores the default relationship classes in any existing GWIS 2.1 geodatabase, ensuring that the geodatabase schema is complete and aligned with the GWIS 2.1 standard. Other data or custom relationships added by the user are not affected. This allows users to explore the relationships between feature datasets and tables while maintaining database integrity.

No major changes to the installation process.
